Timing
When to replace it
Carbon cartridges last about 3 to 4 months. Vitamin C cartridges last about 1 to 2 months. Heavy use shortens that. Lower flow or the chlorine smell coming back are the signs it's time.

Pressure

If the flow got weaker over time, the cartridge is usually full and due for replacement. If the pressure was low right after installing, check that the cartridge is seated properly and that nothing is blocking the connector.
Smell
The chlorine smell is back
That's the clearest sign the cartridge is used up. Swap in a new one. If the smell comes back quickly, your city may use chloramine, which the Vitamin C Shower Head is built for.

Why a TDS meter won't show a change
A TDS meter measures dissolved minerals, not chlorine. Shower filters target chlorine, so TDS readings look about the same before and after. Use a chlorine test instead.

Common questions
Will it lower my water pressure?
Most customers notice no change. The filter adds a short flow path, so if your pressure is already very low you may feel a small difference. If the flow drops over time, the cartridge is usually due for replacement.
Does it fit my shower?
Yes, if your shower arm uses the standard US 1/2" thread, which almost all do. The filter screws on between the shower arm and your existing shower head, so you keep the head you have.
Do I need a plumber?
No. Installation takes a few minutes by hand. Watch the installation video for your setup, and if anything doesn't fit, contact us and we'll help.
What does it remove?
In independent testing by KEWI, the cartridge reduced chlorine by 99%, iron by 100%, mercury by 100%, lead by 63% and copper by 33%. Full figures are on our test results. We don't claim it removes bacteria.
Is it really NSF certified?
Yes. The filter design is certified to NSF/ANSI 177 (shower filtration) and NSF/ANSI 372 (lead-free materials). The listing is under our manufacturer, UBS Inc., model UMV-DS10CR, and you can look it up on NSF's public database. NSF/ANSI 177 covers free available chlorine reduction; the KEWI results above are separate lab testing.
How often do I replace the cartridge?
Carbon cartridges last 3 to 4 months; vitamin C cartridges 1 to 2 months. Heavy use shortens that. A drop in flow or the return of a chlorine smell are good signs it's time.
How do I know it's working?
Most customers notice the chlorine smell is gone first. To check for yourself, test the water before and after the filter with DPD chlorine test tablets.
